Things are getting close as our departure date looms on Saturday, June 11. In general, getting fit for this ride was more complicated than for the Ride Across America. Knee surgery coupled with whooping cough made the winter not particularly productive...and an incredibly cold and wet spring pushed a lot of the work indoors for longer than usual. Couple that with recent flu and it's likely to be a slower pace than the RAF for me. Ray had a bout of gout which settled into his achilles tendon just before heading off to the Senior Games...hope that goes well and the tendon begins to feel better...we'll see, but if you remember the RAF...Ray is a tough guy.
This trip should be quite an adventure...afterall, does anyone know what Fins do for a living? I certainly don't. What's second after Nokia...hunting reindeer? Not sure...but we'll keep you posted. We are sure, however, that the days are long about this time of year...fun to see no sunrise or sunset times if you check internet weather. We arrive in Helsinki on Sunday...first ride is Monday!
